Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service

Elizabeth Bean

January 21, 1926 ~ October 11, 2017

Elizabeth Anne (Mohney) Bean, 91, of Bozeman, MT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2017, surrounded by her daughters as she went to meet her loving Lord Jesus.

Libby was born January 21, 1926 in Clearfield, PA, to George and Julia (Schaffner) Mohney. At age eight, the family moved to Endicott, NY, where she completed her early education. She graduated from the University of Rochester School of Nursing with her R.N.

She married James Morgan Bean on December 28, 1948. They had three daughters, Molly, Kristin and Jane.

Libby worked as a nurse for many years. She enjoyed working for Dr. Rosefsky in his pediatric office in Binghamton, NY, and public health in NYC and Binghamton. She ended her nursing career doing what she loved best, working in the geriatric unit of Deaconess Hospital in Bozeman as a nursing supervisor.

Libby enjoyed gardening, hiking and travelling. She loved to knit and spin her own wool. She made many mittens, hats and sweaters which she gave to many friends and family. She taught many in our community to knit and spin. She loved God and thoroughly enjoyed being a leader in Bible Study Fellowship at Grace Bible Church.

The best advice that she has given to us is to work hard, but make time for fun. Do not get married too young, to trust God, not money, to consider the feelings of others, to always do your share of the work and more.

Libby was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; daughter, Jane Stinocher; grandson, Nicholas Phillipp; her parents, George and Julia Mohney; brother-in-laws, Arthur Bean and John Dennis and sister-in-law-, Janice Bean.

Survivors include her two daughters, Molly (Steven) Phillip, Kristin (Richard) Charron; son-in-law, Carl Stinocher; grandchildren, Matthew (Kristen) Phillipp, Katie Phillipp (Robert) Martinez, Brian (Courtney) Phillipp, Peter (Dru) Hancock, Christopher (Beth) Hancock, and Juliet Charron; great-grandchildren, Bradley Pearson and Khloe Phillip, Marcus and Blake Martinez, Trevyn and Breklyn Phillipp, Natalie Phillipp, Emery and Turner Hancock, and soon to be sweet baby hancock; sisters, Marily (Michael) Schaffer, Judith Dennis, and many nieces and nephews.

We extend a special and heartfelt, sincere appreciation for the love and compassionate care that was given to our mother and grandmother by the staff at Spring Creek Inn Memory Care. Without their ever-loving care and guidance, Libby’s end of life journey would never have been so well handled. She smiled to the end, giving love and inspiration to us all.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel. Pastor Bryan Hughes will be officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
