Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service

Edward Komara

October 16, 1943 ~ July 30, 2018

Edward Komara of Gallatin Gateway passed away peacefully in his home Monday, July 30, 2018 at the young age of 74.  He was born October 16, 1943 in Johnstown, PA to John and Catherine Komara.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jim and Bob Komara.

Eddie moved to Montana in 1972 from Pennsylvania and settled in Gallatin Gateway where he raised his four daughters.  An entrepreneur at heart, he opened Samuri Pizza and shortly after changed it to his infamous nick name “Fast Eddies” Pizza.  Eddie later went on to own and operate Sunshine Industrial Lighting for 20 years before retiring in 2004.  Eddie enjoyed all aspects Montana has to offer.  He loved to hunt, camp, fish, golf, snowmobile and horseback ride.  He would spend his leisure time in the mountains with his horses, German Shorthair dogs and hunting buddies or camping with his family.  Another passion Eddie had was playing softball.  He spent his summers for nearly thirty years putting together his “Dream Team” saying things like “Feel the Thunder” or “Living the Dream” from the pitching mound.  He was known for his big smile, enthusiastic personality, one-line sayings, telling stories, singing a tune or cruising in his Corvette with the top down.  Eddie was a one of a kind and will be dearly missed.

Eddie is survived by his four daughters, Amy (Robert) Carter (daughter, Thea), Michelle (Chad) Mayer (children, Macy and Malloy), Val (Ryan) King (son, Spencer), and Colette Komara (sons, Austyn and Dylan).  He will be forever remembered as Fast Eddie, the Light Guy, Fastest One and Papa by his grand kids.  However you knew him, we had the pleasure of calling him Dad.

Please join family and friends at 3:00 pm on August 16, 2018 for Eddie’s funeral service at Dokken-Nelson, 113 S. Wilson Ave, Bozeman.  A celebration of life will follow the service at Riverside Country Club from 4:30 to 7:30 pm.
