Francis Kellie

October 10, 1923 ~ April 16, 2017

Francis L. Kellie 93, passed away Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, at his home in the Springhill area near Belgrade, MT. Francis was born October 10, 1923, to Albert and Velma Kellie, and lived his entire life in the Gallatin Valley that he loved.

Francis served with the 332nd Air Force Fighter Squadron during WWII, and while stationed at the Santa Ana Army Air base, he met his wife, Berniece, who was working at the Boeing defense plant.  When Francis was deployed to Cuba, Berniece returned home to Iowa, and they were reunited in Belgrade after his discharge.  They were married for 29 years before her death in 1974.

In June 1991, Francis married Evalene Jensen, and they enjoyed many years of happiness together including gardening, camping and traveling until her passing in May 2010.

Francis worked for many years in the grain industry and managed a number of grain elevators throughout the valley.  He loved to fish and camp with friends and family and did so even in to his 90’s.

He is survived by his children, Joyce (Gary) Thompson, Floyd (Debbie) Kellie, Mike (Oleta) Kellie; step-children, Debbie (Ed) Schultz and Dean (Debbie) Jensen and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Chapman; and many nieces and nephews.

Francis loved the Lord and was a member of the Belgrade Community Church for over 70 years.  God bless you, Dad, and keep you in His care until we meet again.

Donations may be made in Francis’ name to Bozeman Health Foundation (memo line: Hospice), 931 Highland Blvd., Ste #3200, Bozeman, MT 59715.

A private graveside service has been held.

"Thank you for all you did for us regarding our Dad's funeral.  I know many times you went the extra mile for us and we appreciate it.  As hard as it was, you made the planning easier.  Chris, you have a gift and may you continue to bless people.  We will always be grateful for you."
