Cora (Betty) Elizabeth Friedberg, 86, passed away on July 13, 2017, after a five-year battle with heart-related complications.

She was born July 4, 1931, in Herpel, Arkansas, to Cecil and Ima (Turner) McCasland.

Her parents, one sister Bonnie McDaris, son Paul, and husband Nicholas John Friedberg preceded her in death.

Betty enjoyed growing up on a farm in Stone County Arkansas meeting her husband, Nick, while attending Mountain View High School. They married in 1951 in Springdale, WA. After traveling with the Navy and college, they settled in Mexico, MO, and raised their family. In 1977, they returned to Mountain View, AR, to spend time with Betty’s parents and later settled in Montana for their final years.

Betty and Nick enjoyed travelling extensively in their R.V. visiting friends and family across the country. Betty was an artist/painter and throughout her life enjoyed gardening and spending time with family. She was a Christian, attending the Baptist Church, and her life was a testimony to those who knew her.

Survivors include daughters, Susan Backerman of Phoenix, AZ, and Mary (Bruce) Weber of Logan, MT; six grandchildren, Jacob Backerman, Emily Backerman, Jesse (Michelle) Backerman, Jordan Backerman, Bruce (Crystal) Weber Jr., and Lynn (Wes) Buscko. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Isabell, Gabriell and Abigail Weber; Natalie, Zachary, and Max Buscko; and Benjamin Backerman.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Dokken Nelson Funeral Home in Bozeman. Graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. in Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Memorials in Betty's name may be made to The Paul Friedberg Scholarship Fund, c/o Mexico Public Schools Business Office, 920 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
