Elfriede Kroos

August 23, 1931 ~ August 11, 2017

Elfriede Margarete Kroos, 85, of Bozeman passed away Friday, August 11, 2017.  Elfriede was born August 23, 1931 in Heilsberg, Ostpreuben, Germany to Hubert and Maria Schenk.

She attended school in Germany, receiving her nursing degree and graduating with honors.  She married Roy Henry Kroos on December 12, 1953 in Steinburg, Germany.  They had a son, Roland, and in March 1955 the family travelled to the United States, making Chapman, Nebraska their new home.  Soon after, they moved to Grand Island, Nebraska and another son, Harry, was born.

Once Elfriede arrived in the U.S., she worked in the healthcare field and as a home health provider.  She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and cooking.  She also loved the outdoors, particularly her flower garden and camping.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Kroos; her parents; and her brother, Roland Schenk.

Survivors include her sons, Roland (Brenda) Kroos and Harry (Diann) Kroos; sisters, Lore Schmidt of Kiel, Germany and Rotraut Volker of Heiligenstedten, Germany; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and services will be announced at Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island.
