Robert Thompson

Robert S. Thompson went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2017, in Bozeman, MT.  He was born on September 15, 1936, to Horace and Iva (Rash) Thompson in Bozeman.  Bob was a native Bozemanite and very proud of it!  He attended schools in Bozeman and graduated from Gallatin County High School in 1955. 

Bob worked for Lehrkind’s Coca Cola Company for many years and later for Clover Club Foods Company.  After retirement, he enjoyed working at Owenhouse Ace Hardware and got to know nearly everyone in Bozeman.  He loved every day of that job!  After that retirement, he worked part-time driving cars for national Car Rental and part-time for LiteSys Inc. in Belgrade. 

He and Barbara Nute were married in 1959 at Grace Bible Church in Bozeman and they spent 58 years together. 

Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Rob Thompson and Steve Thompson; daughter, Annette (Kendall) Kanning; his wonderful granddaughters, Caitlin Kanning and Maria Thompson; and wonderful grandson, Tanner (Savannah) Kanning.  He was also blessed to have two wonderful great-granddaughters, Tallullah Kanning and Emory Kanning; sister-in-law, Illa (Bob) Bodin; brothers-in-law, Robert (Joanna) Nute and Rod Nute.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Kay Hines of Billings, MT, and Helen Medskar of Missoula, MT; brothers-in-law, Bob Medsker and Sewell Hines; grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.

Bob was a member of Grace Bible Church his entire life; first attending at three weeks old and served the Lord in many ways during his life.  He will be remembered mostly as the friendliest greeter at the East door!  He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.  Cancer invaded his life in his later years and finally took his life. 

Memorial services will be held at Grace Bible Church on Monday, December 4th at 2:00 p.m.
