Lawrence Ostermiller

November 6, 1934 ~ November 19, 2017

Service: June 02, 2018 11:00 AM
   Location: Hilton Garden Inn

Lawrence “Larry” Ostermiller, 83, of Bozeman passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on November 19, 2017.

Larry was born November 6, 1934 in Worden, Montana to George and Molly (Harmon) Ostermiller. He attended Baseline School west of Billings, and graduated from Billings Senior High School. He married Corinne Kipp, and they had seven children. Bozeman became their home in 1968.

Loving and working around automobiles his whole life, Larry owned gas stations in Billings and worked in car sales.  The dream of owning his own auto business became reality with Rainbow Auto Sales in 1981 with son, Greg, later joined by son, Burt.  Known for his honesty and genuine caring for his customers, many became his friends.

Active in BPOE and FOE, he also enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and snowmobiling.  Larry especially loved making his yard beautiful and sharing the harvest of his epic gardens. In addition to his interest in automobiles, he played the accordion in his earlier years, and liked to waltz and polka dance.  Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and attending their school activities. The last year of his life was made brighter by his great-granddaughter, Lillian Rose, with whom he shared his special great-grandpa wave.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Brett; sister, Dorothy Bell; and brother-in-law, Donald Kipp.

Survivors include Corinne, his wife of 63 years; daughters Diana (Garry) Goemann and their son Reed (Brittany); and Julie Hamilton, her sons Tom (Misti Andersen) and Nick (Nicole); his sons Greg (Pam) and their daughter Teresa and family; Gary (Bev) and their children Roxie (Randy), Jason (Jamie), Brent (Whitney) and their families; Burt and his son Camden; and Kurt (Renea) and their children Regan and Brett; brother Gene Ostermiller, and sister-in-law Lenore Kipp.  Five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, seven step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews brought light to his life.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at Hilton Garden Inn.
