   Location: Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service
Service: May 11, 2018 2:00 PM
   Location: Wilsall Cemetery

George Adam Thaut, 96, a longtime resident of Shields Valley and Gallatin Valley, passed away May 7, 2018.  He was born November 11, 1921, to Adam and Anna (Krug) Thaut in Billings.  He rode horses to attend school through the 8th grade in Shepherd.

George married Ruby Milohov on December 29, 1941, in Billings, and they moved to Wilsall in 1947.  He owned the Bank Tavern in Wilsall for some 27 years.  He served as chairman of the Wilsall Water Board, was known as the town listener and storyteller, and was a long-standing, lifetime member of the Livingston Elks Club.  In 1975, George and Ruby relocated to Bozeman where they owned and operated the Lindsay Water Conditioning business.

George always prided himself as an expert fly fisherman, avid hunter and home gardener, and was an accomplished harmonica player, in which he and his audiences always found great delight!

George was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 67 years, Ruby; parents; brothers, Carl, John, Herman, and Ed; and sisters, Ruth, Clara, and Shirley.  He is survived by his daughter, Judy Hays; son, Al “Lanny” Thaut; sister, Loraine; and four grandsons, Lance, Lyle, Lane, and Jake; as well as seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours will be from 6-9 pm on Thursday, May 10th at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.  Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Friday, May 11th at the Wilsall Cemetery.
