Robert Heath

August 31, 1927 ~ July 21, 2018

Robert E. Heath, age 90, died at home on July 21, 2018.  Born in Oak Park, Illinois, on August 31, 1927 to Herbert P. and Mary (Coats) Heath, he was an attorney who practiced law in Gallatin County for more than 30 years.

Robert served with pride in the United States Navy at the close of WWII. He met his wife, Margaret Cook, while they were both students at Macalester College, later earning his Juris Doctor degree at the University of Minnesota.  Robert and Margaret were married on June 30, 1951, at the First Presbyterian Church in Miles City, Montana.  He was a partner for over 27 years at Holter and Heath, Attorneys at Law.  He was a public servant as well, serving on many local boards.  Some of the many groups he was involved in include Optimist Club, Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks, Board of Trustees for First Presbyterian Church, Pachyderms, Bridger Bowl, Bozeman School District, and Bobcat Boosters.  Always focused on his family and community, he instilled in others a sense of public service and doing right by all.

He loved the outdoors, particularly fly fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Margaret C. Heath; daughters, Robin (Bob) LeNeve and Holly (Hugh) Qualls; grandchildren, Jesse (Mia) LeNeve, Mitchell LeNeve, Max (Emily) Qualls, Jaxon Qualls, and Ashley Qualls; great-granddaughter, Bella LeNeve; and sister, Carol Heath Allen.

Cremation has taken place and interment will be at Sunset Hills Cemetery.

“Fishing is much more than fish…it is the great occasion when we may return to the fine simplicity of our forefathers.” – Herbert Hoover

Family Feedback

"We greatly appreciate your help with the service.  Rachelle, your guidance and thoughtfulness made difficult decisions easier and helped to personalize the service.  Marilyn, you went above and beyond, securing an ideal reception location and helping throughout the luncheon.  T.J., thank you for your help during the service and the transition to the reception.  The DVD of photos & music will be loved for years to come.  We were all very pleased with dad's service and know we couldn't have done it without your help."
