Frances Babcock

February 23, 1929 ~ August 22, 2018

Service: November 09, 2018 2:00 PM
   Location: First Presbyterian Church

Frances (Flack) Babcock, 89, of Bozeman, MT, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to so many special people over her many years, passed away August 22, 2018.

Fran was born February 23, 1929, in Rochester, NY, to Lillian S. and Arthur E. Flack of Hilton, NY.  She married her high school sweetheart, James K. Babcock, November 18, 1950. Fran and Jim were blessed with five children, thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Fran graduated from Geneseo State Teachers College, taught kindergarten, and served as Superintendent of Early Childhood Development for the Irondequoit School District in Rochester, NY, and for eighteen years worked as office manager for their own insurance business. The family established wonderful memories with family and friends in Rochester, Cincinnati, Lexington (MA) and Indianapolis before Jim accepted a management role with Life of Montana, and the family moved west to Bozeman in 1978. Fran was very involved with the Presbyterian Church in multiple roles, including service as the Moderator of the Synod of Rocky Mountains and Council of the Yellowstone Presbytery, and was a 67-year member of P.E.O, and one of the longest standing members of the P.E.O. sisterhood. Her favorite things in life were her grandchildren and their many activities, flowers, bunnies and birds, doll house miniatures, and helping others.

We are grateful for the loving care provided by the staff at Springmeadows, and Edye and Jan of Hospice of Bozeman Health. Fran is survived by Jim, her husband of almost 68 years, and her loving family.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 9 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Family Feedback

"All of us want to express our gratitude for the way you thought ahead of us and eased the process of planning at this hard time.  So many of the fine touches you added were just right.  You made us feel we were the only ones on your itinerary and had all the time in the world to deal with us."
