Online Condolences for Michael McLoughlin ( Date of Death: September 30, 2008)

October 24, 2008

I first met Mike when he was a buyer/merchandiser in Saginaw, Mi. around 1980 and have enjoyed my friendship with Mike ever since.  For the next 20+ years, Mike was always my key "to go" guy when faced with an unusual business challenge.  Mike was an exceptional operator and demonstrated this over and over as Mike accepted SYSCO's challenge to assume responsibility for a series of SYSCO companies that were either troubled or not achieving SYCO's expected results.  Time after time these companies were turned around and became "SYSCO stars".  In short, Mike became SYSCO's well documented "Mr. Fix it".   In addition to Mike's exceptional business acumen he possessed a great sense of humor and as a result you could always count on Mike for a laugh or smile even though one of us might be going through a serious challenge!                                                                                               Mike loved to discuss sports and no matter how busy he may have been always had time to catch up on the latest scoop regarding the Michigan Spartans or Wolverines.  Perhaps the one thing Mike and I visited about most was our boys.  For some reason both his son's and mine seemed to get into more mischief than the average, and that existed throughout our long career with SYSCO.                                                                 I will always treasure my many and varied conversations with Mike.  I know for a fact that Mike had found true happiness with the love of his life, Heidi.                                                                                          Margo and I offer you, Heidi, and your families our deepest sympathy, and we look forward to seeing you at the "Celebration of Mike's Life" on November 1st of 2008.

"Thank you seems too inadequate to express the true feelings in my heart for the way you handled the military service.  I know he would have approved of your efficient and caring manner and so do I.  Thanks again, too, for your kindness.  I shall always recommend your services to all I come in contact with."
