Roger H. Smith, 90, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018, in Bozeman, MT.  He was born in Bozeman on August 2, 1928, to Wilbur and Virginia (Cunningham) Smith.  He attended school in Bozeman and graduated from Brown’s Military Academy in San Diego.

Roger married his high school sweetheart, Rosalind, on August 3, 1948, in Helena.  Rose came from a large family, her family became his family, and they did things together throughout the rest of his life.  He and Rose spent nearly 50 years traveling south to escape the Montana winters.  He dedicated his life to Rose and was her caregiver the last ten years of her life.  She passed away in 2012.

Roger spent most of his life farming and ranching here in the Valley, working construction with his brothers-in-law, and developing his property off of Durston Road.

Roger loved to hunt, fish and travel.  He had many wonderful fishing adventures with his grandson, Doug, and hunting trips with his son, Roger.

He is survived by his sons, Roger (Debbie) Smith and Douglas (Linda) Smith; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours will be held Tuesday, September 18th from 6-8 pm at Dokken-Nelson.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 19th at 11 am at Dokken-Nelson.  Interment will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery.

"It is difficult to express my appreciation for the exceptionally kind and thoughtful attention we received.  It is no exaggeration to say that I (we) could not have done this without your guidance and direction."
