Dona Billington

Dona May Billington passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018, in Bozeman, Montana, with her family at her side. Dona was born July 8, 1924, in Butte to Dudley B. and May (Johnstad) Gibson. She grew up in Butte and graduated from Butte High School. She attended the University of Montana where she met and married David Billington. They had four children and lived in Missoula, Helena, and Billings. Dona and Dave were later divorced.

Dona worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Billings and Denver, Colorado, and the Department of Agriculture state office in Bozeman. She lived twenty years in Billings and in 1993 she moved to Clancy where she built a home.

Dona was preceded in death by her children, Dan in 2006, Scott in 2006, and Laurie in 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Johnson Burrell; daughter-in-law, Janice Billington Cherry; son-in-law, Made’ Sumendra; grandchildren, Michele (Christian) Larson, Michael (Kristen) Billington, Kai Billington, Kadin Billington, T.J. Johnson, Tad Johnson, Tyler (Janel) Johnson, Dina Billington, Ben Billington; and several great-grandchildren.

At Dona’s request, no services are planned. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Bozeman Health, Highgate Senior Living, The Springs at Butte, and a special thank you to Mike and Shirley Chovanak for many years of friendship and support.
