Marlis Ann Wernberg, 74, of Bozeman passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.  She was born January 2, 1944 to Ole L. and Rose (Moen) Swenson in the small farming and railroad town of Starbuck, Minnesota, the younger of two children.

While Marlis was growing up, her family owned and operated a fishing resort on the shores of Lake Minnewaska.  She participated in the family business by taking “dudes” out on trail rides with the family’s horses.

Marlis has always loved animals, especially horses, and anything to do with the outdoors, including hunting and fishing.  She could often be found cuddling one of her favorite stuffed animal companions.

Always a good student, Marlis earned a master’s degree in Health and Human Development.  She cherished her memories of being a preschool teacher and occasionally seeing her students later in life.

Marlis married her husband, Allen Wernberg, on October 20, 1994.  Numerous trips to Yellowstone National Park were just some of the wonderful memories they shared together.

Surviving Marlis are her husband, Allen; sons, Scott, Ron, and Jason; grandchildren, Ahisjel, Jennifer, and Kashton; and great-grandchildren, Westin, Hunter, and Jasmine.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 26 at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.  Visitation will also take place from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 27 at Dokken-Nelson, with Funeral Services to begin at 2:00 pm.  Marlis will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria, Minnesota.

The family would like to thank Spring Creek Inn for their help and care of Marlis these past few years.

"All of us want to express our gratitude for the way you thought ahead of us and eased the process of planning at this hard time.  So many of the fine touches you added were just right.  You made us feel we were the only ones on your itinerary and had all the time in the world to deal with us."
