Donald Hargrove

March 16, 1933 ~ November 29, 2018

Service: December 01, 2018 1:00 PM
   Location: First Lutheran Church

Always the perfect gentleman and loving husband, Donald Roy Hargrove allowed his wife, Eloise, to enter first, then followed her into heaven just 14 days later, on November 29th.

Born March 16, 1933, as a child Don rode his horse to a one-room schoolhouse and was raised on a ranch in the Madison Valley.  He met Eloise, a pretty kindergarten teacher at Hawthorne Elementary, when she asked him for assistance at the nearby Bozeman Hotel where Don was working.  They had a 63-year love story marriage and raised three sons, Mark, Daniel and David.

After graduating from the Montana State College (now MSU) ROTC program, Don’s distinguished 30-year career as an Air Force pilot included tours all over the United States, and ten years overseas in Germany, Vietnam and Bolivia.  This equipped him for five years of work in narcotics control with the U.S. State Department in Colombia.  After 35 years outside Montana, Don and Eloise returned home where he served for eight years as a state senator in the Montana legislature and several years on the Montana State Parole Board.

Don is survived by his sons, Mark (Sandy) Hargrove, Dan (Ruth) Hargrove, David (Mary) Hargrove, Eloise’s sister, Jane (Phil) Peters and their family, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating of Don’s life will be held at First Lutheran Church in Bozeman at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 1st.

As Don was a lifelong supporter of efforts to get the Bible into every language, gifts may be given in his honor to www.joshuaproject.net/donate
