Richard “Rick” P. Schneider, 71, of Bozeman, MT, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018, in Utah.

Rick was born February 20, 1947 in Oshkosh, WI, to Herbert and Ruth (Sitter) Schneider. He attended school in Oshkosh, graduating from Oshkosh West High School.

On February 22, 1969, Rick married the love of his life, Janet Jorgenson. From this union of love, they were blessed with two children, Rick and Jason.  Rick’s greatest joy in life was his family.

While living in Wisconsin Rick owned and ran Schneider Standard Serviced Station on Ohio St. in Oshkosh, WI.  He took great pride in this as the station was started by his father, who was an important influence in his life.  After moving to Bozeman in 1979 Rick worked in many different fields ranging from construction to truck driving.  He ended his career by working in construction as a water truck driver for Knife River until he retired in 2008.

Rick was very proud of his service to his country.  He served over 27 years with both the Wisconsin and Montana Army National Guard before being honorably discharged as a Sargent First Class.

Living in Montana allowed Rick to enjoy some of his favorite hobbies including hunting, fishing and vacationing with family and friends. He also loved to travel and wintered in California where he enjoyed 4-wheeling.

Rick is survived by his wife, Janet; sons, Rick (Stacy) Schneider and Jason (Beth) Schneider; sister, Susan (Bruce) Woldt; and brother, Jerry (Vicki) Schneider. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Sydney, Rachel, Beau and Ashland. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 7 from 3 to 5 pm at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held Saturday 10:00 a.m, at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.

Memorials may be made in Rick’s name to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, any local food bank, or to a non-profit of the donor’s choice.
