Service: December 11, 2018 10:00 A.M.
   Location: St. James Episcopal Church

Anna Mae Sipes Nicholson, age 82, passed peacefully on December 3, 2018.   She was being cared for at Elkhorn Rehabilitation Center in Clancy, Montana as she slipped into the final stages of Alzheimer’s.

Anna Mae was born September 19, 1936 in Bozeman, Montana to Thomas and Elva (Emerson) Sipes.  She attended Mount Ellis Academy, graduating in 1954.  Expected to attend college in Texas,  she stayed only a short time and  instead went on to Seattle to live with friends and have fun.  Returning to Bozeman, she married John Nicholson  in 1965. Anna Mae worked in the insurance business achieving the title of Insurance Agent Producer.  She retired in 1991, and then her adventures really began.

Anna Mae loved to travel. She travelled to and explored Germany, England, Hawaii, Argentina, Canada, and many places the United States.  In 1999, Anna Mae and John decided to make their home in Bucerias, Mexico.  Anna Mae so enjoyed her time in Mexico.  She loved the people, her friends, walking, shopping, visiting, and smiling at the ocean.

She is survived by her children, Jennie Thompson of Bozeman, Ron Mooney of Helena, Sandra Mooney of Boulder, and Jeff Nicholson of Bozeman.  She also is survived by her six grandchildren, Scott, Jesse, Jayson, Jeri Lynne, Victoria, and Amanda; and her six great-grandchildren, Elliot, Harry, Finn, Henry, Lewis, and Chester.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two sisters, Mary Lee and Roberta; her husband, John; and her son, Joe.

Services will be Tuesday, December 11 at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Episcopal Church in Bozeman, with a reception following in the church basement.  Cremation has taken place.

A very special thank you to the staff at Elkhorn for the dignified, respectful, caring, and tender love they provided Anna Mae in her final months.

"Chris, how do I ever find the words to properly or adequately thank you for your support and kindness during a very trying time.  You are a very special young man and have a wonderful way of making a very difficult time much more easy.  It was very comforting to deal with you.  You are a natural at your position.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
