Michael Allsop

April 5, 1959 ~ January 22, 2019

Service: January 29, 2019 3:00 P.M. Memorial, 5:00-8:00 P.M. Celebration of Life
Location: Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service, Baxter Ballroom

Mike Allan Allsop passed away on January 22, 2019, at the age of 59 years old. Although his death was unexpected, he was surrounded by his family and friends.

Mike was born in Bozeman, MT on April 5, 1959 and lived in Bozeman his entire life. When he was younger he spent summers farming with his family and snowmobiling in the winter. He has always done all the things people from Montana did: camping, riding and working on his motorcycle and snowmobile, and hunting. Some of Mike’s best memories were made at Hyalite, South/North Meadow and Brown’s Gulch. He could always be found with his family and friends around a campfire.

Mike and Lori were married on May 2, 1981 in Bozeman and their daughter, Amanda (Mandi), was born in July 1984. Mike, Lori, and Mandi spent a great deal of time camping together and riding all around the backwoods with young Mandi sitting between him and the handlebars with Lori trailing shortly behind. He was very proud of his three grandchildren and had big plans of what they will become someday.

Mike worked in the construction industry for 42 years; the last 31 years with John Miller Construction.

He will be remembered for his collection of firearms, watching Western movies, and his love of Nascar; 3 will always be his favorite number. It was important for Mike and the people around him to always do what you said you were going to do, do it well, and to never say “whoa in the middle of the mudhole.” Mike was a devoted husband and father; and most of all mentor to all those closest to him.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lori; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Jason Torgerson; three grandchildren; Reier, Hannah, and Otto Torgerson; father, Allan Allsop; sister, Sheri Hoffman (husband George); brother, Barry (wife, Malena); and one niece and three nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Alice Allsop, and nephew, Michael Hoffman.

My dad was the strongest person I will ever know; he taught me about having the right attitude and always doing my best. He will never be forgotten.

As Mike would say, if you think he liked you and you were close friends, come to the Memorial Service at Dokken-Nelson on Tuesday, January 29 at 3:00 P.M.; or, if you were not sure, come to the Celebration of Life at the Baxter Ballroom between 5:00 and 8:00 P.M. for drinks and appetizers.

"All of us want to express our gratitude for the way you thought ahead of us and eased the process of planning at this hard time.  So many of the fine touches you added were just right.  You made us feel we were the only ones on your itinerary and had all the time in the world to deal with us."
